CAVITATION SOLUTIONS:
The first step to correcting or preventing a pump from cavitating is to have your system properly sized out by an authorized AMT pump distributor. Having your system sized out properly will ensure your pump will be operating in a safe area of the curve.
Suction Cavitation – If the pump’s suction lift is too high the pump should be moved closer to the liquid or liquid moved towards the pump. If the discharge line is too long or diameter is too small adjust accordingly. If there is a clogged line, filter or strainer unclog immediately to prevent damage.
Discharge Cavitation – if you are operating too far left of the curve you may need to reduce the head or piping, which in turn will increase your flow. Adjusting the speed is also an option to help prevent discharge cavitation, this adjustment will help the pump stay in a safe operating area.
